A Woodsy Welcome

These two guest rooms began as hybrid spaces - part storage, part sleeping quarters - lacking the warmth and cohesion needed to truly welcome visitors. With original paneling preserved, the design approach focused on layering softness and light to balance the woodsy undertones without overwhelming them.
A key source of inspiration came from the existing printed wood paneling, which features nature-inspired motifs that feel perfectly suited to a country home. This detail helped guide the overall design intent, reinforcing a palette and styling approach that felt grounded, organic, and emotionally in tune with the home’s setting and era.
Each room received a cosmetic update through textiles and styling: soft rugs, cozy comforters, and textured throws set the tone, while accent pillows and curated decor added personality and character. Though distinct in layout and feel, the rooms share a palette of earthy neutrals and natural textures, creating a sense of continuity and calm.
The result is a pair of guest spaces that feel intentional, inviting, and rooted in the home’s early 20th-century charm, ready to greet the next guests with warmth and ease.
